About the app
Daleel Al-Qibla (“the app”), by Saeed Alblooshi, calculates the direction of the Qibla on your iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what information the app uses and how. In short: everything stays on your own devices.
Location
If you allow it, the app reads your location from the device’s GPS to calculate the direction and distance to the Kaaba. The calculation happens entirely on your device. Your location is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not stored on any server.
You can also choose a city by hand instead of allowing location access.
Settings stored on your device
Your chosen language and, if you pick one, your chosen city are saved locally on your device. They are shared only with the app’s own widgets so they show the same direction.
Apple Watch
If you use the Apple Watch app, your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch exchange your selected language, your chosen city and the place the Qibla is currently calculated from, so both show the same direction.
This uses Apple’s WatchConnectivity between your own devices: over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, or relayed end-to-end encrypted by Apple when the devices are not near each other. Nothing is sent to us, and the app itself contains no networking code.
Compass sensor
The magnetometer in your iPhone or Apple Watch is used to show which way you are facing. Readings are used live and are not stored.
No tracking, no ads
- No analytics, advertising or tracking.
- No third-party SDKs.
- No account or sign-in.
- No network requests of any kind.
City data
The built-in city list comes from GeoNames (licensed under CC BY 4.0) and is stored inside the app. Searching it never leaves your device.
Children
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page and noted in the app’s release notes.
